PROJECT TITLE: Environmental and Social review of an Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) production plant in Uzbekistan

PROJECT AIM:

The Netherlands Development Finance Company (“FMO”) required the technical services of an independent environmental and social consultant to perform an Environmental and Social Review of an Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) production plant proposed for financing by FMO. The requested services were to support FMO investment decision and follow-up approach by independently reviewing and verifying the project, identifying compliance gaps, necessary mitigation and follow-up actions, and outlining a managing/monitoring regime.

Description of actual services provided in the assignment

-Conduct Environmental And Social Due Diligence for the proposed Project;

-Information Review: Review of all relevant environmental, social, and health and safety Project documents and information and, subsequent to the site reconnaissance, review of any additional information obtained or collected;

-Review of the Company’s existing environmental and social management systems, policies and practices. Description and gap analysis against IFC PS and related guidelines of Environmental and Social policies and implementation of these policies on site;

-Site Reconnaissance. A site investigation was performed consisting of visual observation of relevant areas directly and indirectly affected by the Project, meetings with relevant individuals/entities associated with the Project to discuss the environmental and social issues, and obtaining any additional information required.

-Preparation of an Environmental and Social Due-Diligence Report.
